Boston is a Preferred Destination for Bradley Beal

Before getting into the excitement of what could happen here, I need to establish this first. I am not giving up Jaylen Brown to get Bradley Beal. I do not care if thats what Tatum wants and asks the team to do so. Trading Brown for a comparable player who’s three year older does not give you a better chance of winning the East in the short or long term. Washington can have Smart, Timelord, picks, whatever they want. You’ll still need to give up pieces for Beal, but Brown is a dealbreaker.
We know the connection between Tatum and Beal. We were excited to see them compete together on Team USA until Beal was removed due to COVID-19 protocols. But there is a strong relationship between the two and an obvious desire to play together. Beal is still only 28 years old. He is already well-established in the league, but a move to a large Boston market in his prime to make them a championship team could write Beal’s legacy in the NBA. A move to Boston seems like a no-brainer for his career.
Giannis may have just won his first NBA title, but the East still runs through Brooklyn. Give Kyrie, Harden, and KD a full offseason together, and it will not be fun trying to beat a team featuring 3 of the league’s best 10 players. Adding Beal without sacrificing a Jay will give Boston their first legit “Big Three” since 2011. Boston’s new three-headed monster could give Brooklyn a run for their money, fighting to sit on the Throne of the East as Tatum and Brown hit their prime as super stars. Boston has painted a picture of impending basketball domination via Tatum and Brown. Beal could be the final step towards making this a reality.
However, Boston may not be the most desirable place to send Beal from Washington’s perspective. Organizations typically try to send their disgruntled superstars out of their conference when they force their way out of town. I doubt the Wizards will want to send Beal up the street to Boston, who finished just two games ahead of them this last year in the East.

The Warriors will also be heavy contenders in the Beal Sweepstakes, and I would not be surprised to see them pull the winning ticket. Golden State has Beal on top of their grocery list, according to The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson. Thompson also reported that Curry, Thompson, and Green are pushing management to use their two lottery picks for an “immediate contributor”. Golden State holds the 7th and 14th pick in the 2021 draft and could also dangle C James Wiseman, the #2 pick in the 2020 Draft. Boston can’t match that without giving up Brown, and that may be where I get off the Bradley Beal train. The only way I’d consider it is if they could build this into a package and also acquire Westbrook. No matter what they decide to do, Boston will still need three stars if they want to compete for the East.
