The Domino Effect of Bregman, Campbell and Devers

I’ve struggled to follow the Red Sox since the Mookie trade. 2021 had its moments, but we know how the team has operated since 2020.

This was the first year that felt like we were getting passed that. They still sucked for a few months, but they spent money, made a big trade getting Crochet, and had top prospects finally make it to Fenway after years of hype. After the last ten games, going 8-2 and 5-1 against the Yankees, it felt like we may have a baseball team again.

That all changed yesterday.

The only thing I’d like to add to the fallout of the trade is Campbell. I don’t blame him for the trade, but it’s a factor in how this was all managed. They shouldn’t have signed Bregman if it meant dumping Devers for nothing. But even if they still signed him, he should’ve been at 2B and Devers at 3B. Campbell should still be in AAA without that contract and continuing to develop. You could’ve called him up when Bregman got hurt and gone from there.

I’ve lost all interest in this team and I honestly don’t know what will bring it back besides John Henry riding a Bezos Penis Rocket into the sun, or selling the team. Yesterday I went from actually being bummed to miss the 1:30 game to not wanting to watch a single game for the rest of the year, and who knows how long.

Trade Chapman. Trade Duran. Trade Abreu. Trade Mayer, Anthony and Campbell for all I care.

Enjoy the summer. We’re on to football season.
